Ted Lasso‘s fourth season is bringing the Lady Greyhounds together as Ted (Jason Sudeikis), Alice (Tanya Reynolds), and Beard (Brendan Hunt) work to build bonds between the players. Warning: Spoilers for Ted Lasso Season 4, Episode 4!
As viewers see in the installment, “Greyhounds’ Day Off,” Ted learns more about the inner workings of the cliques that keep the players divided in the locker room and partly on the field, forcing him to come up with a creative way of fostering unity between everyone. The best possible solution is pub trivia, of course!
And while the women are forced to mix it up building their teams, any differences are set aside in the final round as they work to destroy a team of men who heckle them for their poor performance on the pitch and for being Richmond’s women’s team, in general. In the end, the girls come together to defeat the opposition, but when those men claim they cheated and end up spilling a pint on Gemma (Abbie Hern), goalie Boots (Jude Mack) decides it’s time to defend her teammates by throwing hands.

Ultimately, the brawl involves all of the Lady Greyhounds and leaves a window or two smashed at the pub, and the whole crew in a jail cell. “I had good fun strangling poor Jake [Bailey] with his tie as well,” Faye Marsay, who plays Lizzie, muses. “I got him by his tie, and I just put him against the wall, and that was pretty good.”
“That’s the moment it all clicks… and I’ve watched the bit with Jude, that slow walk down the bar with the drink — my wife and me, we rewound it like five times. Jude is awesome… It’s brilliant.”
“Also, I think Abbie’s really beautiful in this episode because you see Gemma’s ambition and then this real vulnerability that Abbie just can do very quickly when the pint [is spilled]. It’s just that moment of like, ‘f**king hell,’ and then the team just comes in, and we’re not having this; we’re gonna rip your face off,” Marsay continues.
Meanwhile, Mack adds, “I think [Boots is] desperate for connection and community, but that’s not what she’s ever had, so she’s separated that from herself. So that scene, for me, is all about how she’s like, ‘I would kill for anyone on this team, and this is me showing it for the first time.’ It feels like a nice little moment that turns it all around.”
While they’re ultimately bailed out of prison, the Lady Greyhounds seemed closer than ever after their united front against the opposing trivia team.
