The Challenge family is mourning a devastating loss as show alum and winner Tyler Duckworth has sadly passed away. He was only 44 years old at the time of his death. This happened on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. So, how did he pass? Keep reading for the details that are currently known.
Tyler Duckworth Dead At 44
The Challenge initially started as a battle between the casts of The Real World and Road Rules. As time went on, more reality series stars joined in and began competing with each other. Tyler Duckworth was an OG of The Real World: Key West from 2006. He then went on to compete in a handful of challenges and ended up winning more than one. That is a massive accomplishment given the drive that some of these show alums have. Sadly, Tyler’s life was cut short as he was found unresponsive in his home on Tuesday, August 11th.
His mother, Jodi, shared the heartbreaking news on her social media, writing this:
“My son, Tyler, passed away earlier this week. Cause of death has yet to be determined. I will post on Facebook about services as soon as his dad and I figure it out.”
Tyler was alone when it happened, so it seems that they are still looking for answers as to what happened. His last time on The Challenge was in 2021, but he still maintains a presence, and fans are very invested in him and what he is doing. Therefore, this will hit very hard, and understandably so.
He just attended a fan event the first week of August, so he was still making his rounds. Everyone seemed elated to be together, and a current season of The Challenge is airing as we speak.
Time Will Tell
As Tyler Duckworth’s mother explained, there is so much still unknown that time will tell what the cause of death was. However, once she knows and everything is planned, she will hopefully share it with The Challenge community. Once the news broke that he had passed away, comments flowed in. People were devastated to learn that he had died, as it was so out of the blue:
