‘The View’ Colin Farrell Jokes Grim Reaper’s Out For Joy Behar

Colin Farrell recently visited The View, just as the second season of Sugar just dropped. At the time, the conversation went the existential route. Notably, one moment even needed to be censored.

Death, Dying, & Dreamgirls Became A Topic Of Discussion On A Recent Episode Of The View

Farrell is an actor known for a variety of films. Making his breakthrough in Minority Report, he is also known for his work in Daredevil, Alexander, Total Recall, S.W.A.T., and The Batman.

In 2024, Farrell starred in the Apple TV+ detective drama series Sugar. Playing the titular John Sugar, his character is a private investigator hired by a Hollywood producer to investigate the disappearance of his granddaughter. The series recently returned for a second season, which dropped on June 19, 2026.

Recently, Farrell stopped by The View for an interview about the hit series’ new season. Soon, it turned into a discussion about death and mortality, which later got him censored on the air.

In particular, Joy Behar asked the actor about turning 50 on his May 31 birthday. He teased, “I love getting older. As you get older, that stuff kind of fades away, you know? Life is so short. If you’re lucky to live to 80 or 90, it’s just a blip. I think we don’t talk about death enough.”

Behar agreed with the feeling, to which Farrell continued, “We all fear it. It’s the one thing that all of us.” Behar than broke out into a number from Dreamgirls, replying, “Not me! I’m not going. And I am telling you, I’m not going!”

End-Of-Life Plans Have Often Been Discussed Over The Years On The Talk Show

It was then that Farrell joked, “That grim reaper is coming for you as well, sister! All of us!” Behar took this with humor, however, replying, “But not today!”

Farrell doubled down on the idea, feeling that conversations about death “shouldn’t be this big, fearsome thing,” but that he’s “not okay with it” at all. He then found himself getting censored when he appeared to say “I s*** myself” when he’s “in an airplane that hits turbulence” during a flight. He continued, “I don’t want to die! I want life to slow down. I love getting older, but I love to tap the brakes a little bit.”

Conversations about death and dying have frequently popped up on The View. Famously, back in 2023, Whoopi Goldberg revealed that a mandate in her will prevents her likeness from being used in holograms after she dies. At the time, she shared, “My estate wants to be left alone.”
