He Was Also On That Plane

For those who are unfamiliar with this tragic story, the plane crash happened back in 2008. Travis Barker was also a passenger. The crash killed everyone onboard with the exception of him and one other person. Understandably, the anniversary of the plane crash is an emotional day for Travis each year. Blink-182 fans can only imagine what sort of emotional demons Travis struggles with.

The private aircraft took off on September 19, 2008, from Columbia, South Carolina. It, however, did not get very far. The tires of the aircraft reportedly blew out when it tried to take off which created a loss of pressure. After failing to take off, the plane continued off the runway’s end before slamming into a fence. After hitting the fence, the aircraft caught on fire.

Travis Barker survived with burns on 65 percent of his body. In addition to Travis, Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein was also able to exit the plane with his life. Despite getting off the plane, Travis was soaked with fuel. The fuel caught on fire, which resulted in the burns to his body.

For years, Travis affirms he did struggle with finding the courage to get on airplanes again.

Do you remember when news of this tragic plane crash first broke 15 years ago? Do you think it is sweet that Travis still pays tribute to them and mourns them each year? Share your thoughts in the comments. And, keep coming back for more reality TV and celebrity news.
