Fired Fox News host Tucker Carlson and former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene announced a new “movement” after leaving the Republican Party.
On Saturday, August 1, Greene — who resigned in January from the U.S. House of Representatives — took to Instagram with a photo and a declaration.
“We said no more foreign wars and we meant it and supported Donald Trump because he made that promise,” she captioned the update. But he’s betrayed us all.”
The former Republican politician from Georgia, 52, then promised, “Our commitment is America First for all Americans, right, left, and center. “The movement has begun.”
In the featured image, Greene sat at a table beside Carlson, 57, a former Fox News host, and her new husband, conservative journalist Brian Glenn. Also seated with them were Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Joe Kent, the former director of the National Counterterrorism Center.
It’s unclear what “movement” Greene referred to in her post. However, she hinted at starting a new political party during a June 31 interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
“I think there’s a group of us that if we decide to align, we could launch a true America-focused party that doesn’t fall into the traps of Democrats or Republicans, but could align some serious players from the right and the left,” Greene explained.
She also said she was “in talks” and part of “serious conversations” about the possibility.
“It’s difficult to launch a third party,” Greene confessed. “So the reality is this isn’t something that gets off the ground in just a couple of campaign cycles. This is a movement that has to be developed and would take time to develop.”
In June, Carlson — who was fired from Fox News in 2023 — said he “would not support the Republican Party.” However, he clarified, “Not gonna support the Democratic Party,” on Can’t Be Censored, adding, “I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
Greene also proclaimed via X that she was “done” with the GOP. “Tucker is not the only one who is done supporting the Republican Party,” she wrote on June 22. “There is A LOT of us that are absolutely fed up and will not support a party that betrays its voters and country.”
