High Potential‘s third season will not arrive until 2027, nearly a full year after Season 2 concluded this spring. While a premiere date remains unknown at this time, the midseason schedule shift for ABC’s top drama points to a long wait for viewers who have relied on the show’s fall debut the past two years.
Considering High Potential‘s impact on the viewership for the network, we can’t help but wonder if the show’s delayed return will impact its Season 3 success. While there’s certainly enough loose ends for fans to cling to until Season 3 arrives, will they be strong enough to keep less passionate fans on the line?
As viewers will remember, Season 2 of the series concluded with Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) finding LAPD’s Captain Nick Wagner (Steve Howey) bleeding out after getting stabbed in a dark park. With his life in the balance and an unknown assailant on the loose, that’s only one area of interest that’s sure to get fans tuning into Season 3.

Meanwhile, the long-teased mystery surrounding Morgan’s ex appears to be on the brink of revelation as High Potential explored the idea of finally uncovering Roman. With the addition of glitzy guest stars like Jennifer Jason Leigh, Mekhi Phifer, and Clancy Brown, High Potential raised the bar on its reputation as a leading network hit.
Although High Potential‘s midseason move hasn’t been attributed to anything specifically, part of the delay is likely the shift in showrunners, as sisters Lilla and Nora Zuckerman take over the helm most recently held by Todd Harthan.
