Recently, Shatner discussed the start of this story during an appearance on CBS This Morning. During the conversation, he revealed that a doctor didn’t take his facial lump too seriously after it was first brought to his attention.
The actor shared, “So I had a lump and the doctor — friendly doctor — said, ‘Oh, it’s a salivary gland. Just massage it there.’” Shatner decided to ask for a second opinion and went to a doctor who looked at the lump more closely.
