Lioness Season 3 Episode 6 Review: It’s Not Looking Good for Joe

You guys, I’m getting more worried about Joe with each episode, and I don’t envision her predicament ending the way she deserves.

Lioness Season 3 Episode 6 confirmed that she was in Texas and cast a pall of uncertainty over her fate when her team got this close to finding her.

It’s hard to shake the feeling that there won’t be a happy resolution no matter how this goes.

Babat’s introduction was a terrifying turn because this man means business and is desperate to make an example of Joe.

His comments about the torture she would endure and that, when he decided to kill her, he’d light her on fire were all difficult to hear.

Joe has faced a lot of terrible things during her career, but nothing can come close to hearing what this despicable man has planned for her if he gets her out of the U.S.

The only real positive is that the team intercepted the plane that was about to transport her.

That makes Babat’s plan much more difficult to execute. The odds are stacked against him because the team is slowly closing in.

With the plan changing, Oksana will hopefully be a crucial element in figuring out how to handle this latest hurdle.

I’m going to be honest: I thought Oksana was out buying groceries and would be revealed as the one holding Joe captive.

That would have been too predictable, so I appreciate the pivot to Kyle and the team showing up at her home for answers.

Lioness Season 3 Is Telling a Dark Story

Oksana clearly wants to lay low after the blowback that likely came her way from aiding the team at the beginning of Lioness Season 3, but Kyle feels that she still has much more to offer in this quest for answers about Joe.

Oksana has been a valuable asset, but I believe something bad will happen to her when the truth inevitably comes out.

The team is already talking about the possibility of her family being wiped out by a missile, and that’s the sad reality of what she’s doing.

Kyle and the team have pushed and pushed to get information from her, but there’s also a chance she’ll want revenge on them if anything happens to her family.

The team on the flight, learning that if Joe gets on that plane and out of the U.S., it will be the end of her, was another tug at the heartstrings.

Joe has been their fearless leader for so long and has helped them out of a wealth of sticky situations. I don’t think they’d be much of a functioning team in her absence.

Then there’s Cruz, who has had a complicated dynamic with Joe dating back to Lioness Season 1 Episode 1.

Remember their first meeting? Joe was horrible to her because she didn’t think she had what it took to become a Lioness.

Joe was cold as ice, and while Cruz hated her guts, she also understood that Joe pushed her because she wanted to test her skill set and turn her into the Marine she is now.

Cruz has never known this lifestyle without Joe, and, aside from their drama, they actually work really well together.

It raises the question of what the team could look like with a new leader if Joe doesn’t return or if she decides that her family comes first and leaves the CIA behind.

I thoroughly enjoyed Bobby and Cruz’s scene because it was so obvious that Cruz was acting on impulse, which could have clouded any plan to save Joe.

Bobby’s admission that she’s been with Joe for 15 years and that they would get her back resonated with me because it highlights how every member of the team is dealing with their own conflict over whether to save her.

They all have this shared history and have relied on each other in life-or-death situations that have taken them away from their families.

I don’t know how Joe not returning will rock the fabric of the Lioness. It feels like her fate is sealed, but I hope a last-minute save happens.

The timelines are getting very close together, and it’s heartbreaking to see the juxtaposition of Joe telling her family they can return home because the threat is gone and what’s happening in the present.

I wasn’t as fond of the present-day timeline in this episode as I was in other episodes throughout Lioness Season 3.

The purpose of the past storyline on Lioness Season 3 Episode 6 was clearly to show how Joe has played in the gray area throughout her career.

She definitely planted the seeds for the senator to take his own life because it would make her job a whole lot easier.

We’ve been slowly seeing her disdain for people who betray their country, and it’s getting harder for her to hold it together without airing her unfiltered opinions.

The senator killing himself and potentially taking the truck driver down with him was the coward’s way out. When Joe planted those seeds, she did not expect him to take someone else down with him.

Lioness Season 3 is on the cusp of a big turn, and I’m cautious about where we’re headed next.

I’m terrified for Joe. I’m terrified of how the team reacts. Lioness isn’t a show with Hollywood endings, so I’m prepared for what comes next.
