Carson Daly joined The Today Show in 2013, a decade after leaving MTV’s Total Request Live. He began as a social media correspondent on the NBC morning program. He worked his way up to a larger role and regularly joins Craig Melvin and Dylan Dreyer on the show’s third hour. Now, he’s taking on an even bigger role.
Savannah Guthrie announced on Thursday, November 5, 2026, that Carson Daly is the new co-host of the program’s Saturday show. He joined Laura Jarrett on Saturday TODAY as an official co-host after weeks of filling in, beginning on Saturday, November 7.

He Exposes ‘Wild’ Drinking Binges With Today Co-Hosts
Laura Jarrett and Carson Daly chatted with Page Six about their friendship. Carson Daly admitted the hosts “definitely have some holiday cocktails.” Laura shared that the “happy hour” drinks usually begin at 1 p.m. That may seem early, but they have to be on the air in the mornings by 7 a.m.
Carson Daly said that he often ducks out of the drinking binges early. “I leave at three, and I come into work the next day, and there are stories about you guys staying there, and Ubers, and all kinds of stuff,” Carson Daly told the outlet. “So, we have a good time when we get together.”
“The boys leave at one point in the afternoon, and then that’s when things really get interesting,” Laura Jarrett joked. The co-hosts’ parties aren’t new. Savannah Guthrie spoke out about the gatherings several years ago.
“When you’re at the Today Show Christmas party, it starts at, like, 3 p.m. Lot of day drinking,” she said on Watch What Happens Live in 2024. But unlike CNN’s Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen, the Today Show hosts usually don’t get drunk on camera. They did share a rare drink to toast Carson Daly’s new role.
