A&E has been a destination for chronicling officers in the line of duty as part of its crime and Investigation offerings. The next addition is coming in hot…and humid with Swamp Patrol, premiering June 17.
This brand new series promises to pull viewers into the unpredictable world of law enforcement operating in America’s most unforgiving swamps. Whether it’s the tangled bayous of Louisiana or the coastal inlets of Florida, viewers will get to follow the officers in real time through bodycam footage.
They’ll respond to numerous threats including armed suspects, drug busts, missing persons, and stolen boats. Of course, it wouldn’t be called Swamp Patrol without 11-foot gators or deadly snakes involved. “Every call comes with its own dangers, and in the depths of the swamp, there is no backup,” reads the synopsis tagline. As seen in the trailer below, the series looks to give a captivating glimpse at the chaos and courage required to hold the line in places most people never step.
Two back-to-back episodes kick off the series as a deputy and his K-9 wade through the murky waters of the Georgia swamp to catch a submerged felon. Then attention turns to Louisiana’s Cajun country where a suspect escapes into a gator-filled bayou. Other situations see a man accused of armed robbery take the plunge, and a deputy jumps into action to save a drowning pup.
In the next half-hour, troopers risk life and limb in Florida wading through gator-infested swamps to track a suspect. Elsewhere, a thief in Georgia is close to becoming gator feed to evade capture. Speaking of gators, we find out what happens when one comes between a woman and her pizza. Officers also have to track down a man acting erratically and making a surprising getaway.
A&E has shared an exclusive sneak peak to give us a taste and additional intel of what to expect from the new show. The clip is from Volusia County where it’s almost sunrise. Deputies are responding to a victim of a suspected armed robbery. The victim said the individual came at him with a knife and took a scooter. He described someone with no shirt, tattoos, and pale skin, as well as blonde hair. The guy allegedly went by a bleeped out codename on Facebook.
We cut to 50 minutes later where a patrol officer spotted a man that matched the description given. When questioned about where he was coming from, the answer gave the officer even more suspicion. The officer asked the guy to have a seat and informed him he was being detained. At that point the probable suspect proceeded to jump off the bridge into the water. What happens next? We’ll just have to watch to find out..
