All TLC shows are a bit behind the present, but Sister Wives has developed a reputation for being absurdly behind. And it seems like the time gap keeps getting worse as the series continues.

When does Sister Wives Season 18 take place?
By now, plenty of fans have seen the new trailer for Sister Wives Season 18. Based on the background, it’s clear that a lot of the season will take place around the Christmas holidays. The question is, which year is it?
Since this show’s production team is so notoriously behind, Redditors had a few different guesses.
“They have finally released the date Aug. 20th. How far behind do you think the filming will be?” one Redditor recently asked on the platform. “I am unsure of the year maybe 2021 but they left off right before Thanksgiving I think. In the preview I am seeing Christmas. So did Janelle say that in 21 or will that be the last episode and she said it in 22?”
“I’m guessing this is picking right up with December of 2021 and going through 2022. Now how far they go in 2022 is the question,” another Redditor shared. “We know Janelle was unhappy and walked out of the family meeting in 2021 on the last season so it makes sense that these discussions with Kody happened not long after that.”
Other Reddit users agreed with this notion and added that this puts Sister Wives Season 18 about 18 months behind present-day.
This year will apparently center on Janelle’s journey
During the course of Season 17, fans watched as Christine left Kody and prepared to start a new life for herself. Today, she’s happily engaged to David Woolley and starting a brand new life with him. It looks like Janelle is hot on her trail.
In the trailer, Janelle stands up to Kody as he talks over her and belittles her. At one point, she even tells him to shut his “f***ing mouth.” Fans went wild over the scene. Now, some are even referring to her as “the queen.”
It’s not immediately clear what other storylines will be featured this season. Without a doubt, many Redditors would love to see other family members finally confront Robyn over her manipulative behavior.
