Jill Duggar Says Her Parents Blame Her For Younger Kid’s Actions

TV Shows

Jill Duggar Dillard is the fourth oldest child of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar. As an older sibling, Jill was given quite a few responsibilities for her younger siblings. Including being the leader of a buddy group. Now after Jill’s tell-all book Counting The Cost, Jill says that her parents are blaming her for leading her siblings astray.

Leading Her Siblings Astray

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have a total of 19 children. Jill Duggar Dillard is fourth in line of 19 kids. For several years the family was at the center of several reality T.V. shows. The family had a show on TLC called 19 Kids and Counting and eventually a spin-off called Counting On. Jill was in charge of several of her younger siblings in what is called a buddy group. Now married with three children of her own, many of her siblings from her buddy group now look up to Jill.

Jill’s parents have told her that she is leading her younger siblings astray by wearing pants. On an episode of Kate Casey’s Reality Life podcast, Jill sat down to talk about her life post-TLC. Jill said her conservative parents are putting a lot of pressure on her to continue to live by their expectations. Jill said they have told her “Look how you’re leading. You’re going to lead your younger siblings astray.” Jim Bob and Michelle added “You’re leading your 6-year-old sister astray because she looks up to you like a parent and now you’re choosing to wear pants. We don’t agree with wearing pants. So this is your fault.”

Jill responded to her parents by saying “That burden is not mine to bear. You put me in this position of … influence with my younger siblings, and now you’re afraid of the result of that.”

Derick Dillard jumped to his wife’s defense, saying “In reality, it’s the parents’ responsibility.”

Jim Bob And Michelle’s Response

The couple have said that they love all of their children. And that with any family there will be painful conflicts or problems amongst those you love. The couple state that they aim to “deal honorably with our children, our finances, and our other endeavors”. They state that their life is imperfect but they try to honor Christ in everything that they do. They Go on to say that they do not believe that the best way to resolve conflict is to utilize the media. And that as the future unfolds they will continue to wish the best for all of their children.

19 Kids and Counting no longer airs and Counting On isn’t airing new episodes anymore either at this time.
