TV Shows

Former Dance Moms star JoJo Siwa is leaving her days of child stardom behind her. Not long ago, children loved buying hairbows to be just like her. Now that JoJo is 20, she’s interested in performing more mature content. And she fully expects to get a response from haters in the process.

Her new song “Karma” will be out on April 5 and JoJo can’t wait to see how the world reacts to her new mature themes. Keep reading to see what she had to say in a recent interview.

JoJo Siwa Doesn’t Care What Her Haters Say About Her New Look

Fans who follow JoJo Siwa on social media likely noticed she’s going through a bit of a transition period at the moment. While her Instagram page was once full of sunshine and rainbows, JoJo has opted for more adult-oriented content these days.

Fans are already leaving unsavory comments in JoJo’s Instagram comments, but she couldn’t care less.

“I’ve seen people before me make this transition, I’ve seen how much I loved it, and I’ve seen also how much the world has criticized us, so I am ready for that. One thing that I think no one’s done is given the heads-up,” the So You Think You Can Dance judge told PEOPLE in a recent interview. “It was important to me to give that heads-up and be like, look, if you follow along, that’s all you. If you want to go, now’s your time. But in the best way possible, now’s your time.”

“Karma” doesn’t come out until April 5, but in the meantime, JoJo has been teasing bits and pieces of her new song. Interested fans can get a sneak peek here, just keep in mind it features explicit lyrics:

The Former Dance Moms Star Wants To Be True To Herself

Although JoJo Siwa seemed to enjoy her time as an icon for children, that’s behind her now. As she explores adulthood, she wants to stay true to herself.

“I feel like a lot of child stars started as a character then they grew into an adult as themselves,” JoJo continued in the PEOPLE interview. “Whereas for me, I’ve always been myself, you know what I mean? And so to make this transition while being true to myself, while being artistic, has been interesting to figure out. But I think we’ve nailed it and I think it definitely makes a massive statement. Maybe even too big of a statement, but I think it’s going to be a good one.”

What do you think of JoJo Siwa’s dramatic new transition? Do you support the change or do you miss the old JoJo? Share what you think in the comments.
