In the world of news reporting, all things can happen during a live show. This can even happen during a show’s lighter moments. One broadcast personality learned this as their show was getting ready to celebrate the season.

Fox‘s Good Morning Philadelphia Recently Celebrated A Throwback To The 1990s

Local Fox‘s Good Morning Philadelphia got into the spooky season last Friday morning. The crew appeared on set dressed in their Halloween costumes.

The anchors got into the spirit and even had some fun with music and dancing on the air. However, things took a turn during a brief 1990s throwback.

The crew was dancing to the 1993 Tag Team classic, “Whoomp! (There It Is,)” as the set was all decorated for the holiday, complete with pumpkins and a mannequin witch. However, Karen Hepp had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction.

Hepp has been part of the Fox 29 News team since November 2010. She has been a co-anchor for the 4 to 6 AM hours of Good Day Philadelphia. The morning news personality was dressed like singer Gwen Stefani during her No Doubt era. However, Hepp’s wig fell off while she was dancing.

Another co-anchor, Alex Holley, rushed to help. Picking up the platinum blonde wig, she joked, “There it is.” At the time, Holley was dressed like another icon from the era: TLC’s T Boz. Their other co-hosts appeared to be dressed like Vanilla Ice and Will Smith during his “Fresh Prince” era.

Staying professional, Hepp continued to dance with her costumed co-stars during the moment. Keeping a sense of humor about the situation, she also shared a clip of the moment on her Instagram account.

Hepp captioned the video, “When you lose your wig live on air.” She also wrote, “[Whoomp] there it is! ‘I’m just a girl’- Gwen Stefani with a Halloween fail.”

Many of Hepp’s fans responded to the moment, especially those who saw the moment on television. One fan mused that it nearly caused a hair malfunction of her very own. Some comments included:

  • “The wig was definitely wigging. Great show today!!”
  • “I was in the hair salon laughing all morning at y’all”
  • “The party don’t stop when the wig flys off.”
  • “Ain’t no holla back girlllll.”
  • “I just love the whole Good Day team! Such fun! Thanks! Happy Halloween.”
  • “I don’t know what you guys put in your coffee in the morning, but I really could use some of that.”
