Teresa Giudice Made Her Family Study Reality TV
17 years ago, the world met Teresa Giudice on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and they instantly became reality TV icons. Because of the length of their time on TV, Teresa’s daughters have essentially grown up on camera. Not only that, but Gia Giudice went on to be on another show without her family, Next Gen NYC. Her show follows the lives of those with similar backgrounds, with either famous or wealthy parents.
However, none of this happened by accident. Apparently, Teresa spent a lot of time studying and training her family to become reality TV stars. A source says that she has worked so hard to achieve this that she may no longer realize where the show ends and their lives begin.
“Teresa absolutely loves her daughters, but she has lived on reality television for so long that I don’t think she recognizes where the show ends and the family begins anymore,” a source reveals.
They continue, explaining that every moment became good TV instead of being a real, vulnerable moment.
“A fight becomes an episode. A heartbreak becomes a storyline. Eventually, even a crisis starts looking like content.”
Given the current legal issues and mental health issues her daughter Milania is going through, it seems like this could be a reality check for the family.
Training The Family
Apparently, Teresa would have her kids watch other reality TV shows, including The Kardashians, to figure out how they got famous and how they made iconic moments within the shows.
“They watched other reality shows constantly and studied what worked,” another source says. “Who became famous? Who got the spin-off? Who turned one scene into a career? The Kardashians were the gold standard. There was an obsession with how that family turned reality television into an empire.”
The source makes it clear that the life moments weren’t scripted, but they did figure out the best way to convey a message and make it more memorable for their audience.
“It wasn’t someone handing out scripts,” the source says. “It was learning how to deliver a line, how to make a moment bigger and how to say something people would repeat the next morning. They understood that boring doesn’t make television.”
