What To Know

  • Ugliest House in America star Alison Victoria reflected on her longtime HGTV partnership with Retta.
  • The cohost got sentimental about the milestone.

HGTV star Alison Victoria reflected on five years of her show, Ugliest House in America, with her co-star Retta. The show recently aired its Season 8 finale.

On her Substack, Victoria took fans behind the scenes of the season finale. On Instagram, she shared photos from the finale, which included standing in front of the completed house, popping confetti poppers, hugs, shocked expressions, the tools used, and more.

“If you caught the finale of Ugliest House in America, you already know how this goes. Confetti, laughter, tears, and a family walking into a completely transformed home. But there’s a whole world that happens before any of that ever airs,” she wrote on the platform. “Months of secret planning, surprise arrivals, antiquing, and a lot of me hiding behind a wall scaring the shit out of people.”

“Today, I want to take you behind everything the cameras didn’t catch. From the very first phone call, to the big reveal. If you’re not familiar with the show, here’s the idea… Retta travels around the country touring so many homes that people have nominated as… you guessed it… really ugly. Once a winner is chosen, I step in for the finale and lead a full $150,000 renovation,” Victoria continued.

“Keep in mind, this is season eight of the show… Which still feels BANANAS to say out loud. Retta and I have been doing this together for almost five years now, and somewhere along the way it stopped feeling like a job and started feeling like a friendship that happens to have cameras around it.” Fans have to subscribe in order to see the rest of the behind-the-scenes.

Victoria also hosts Windy City Rehab and Sin City Rehab, which will premiere Season 2 on October 7. She also hosts the Pap Smear Podcast.

The Season 8 finale of Ugliest House in America aired on August 24. Fans voiced their opinions about it in the comments.

“This was truly such a joy to watch. You can feel the emotion through the couple. They were so grateful. The cutest house makeover thus far!!” one said.

“You killed it!” another wrote.

“You two make an amazing team,” a third added.
