Ben McKenzie is headed to Edgewater for the Season 2 premiere of Sheriff Country, and his guest-starring role comes with a fun real-life connection.
McKenzie will appear opposite his wife, series star Morena Baccarin, marking the first time the couple will share the screen on the CBS drama. Baccarin stars as Sheriff Mickey Fox, while McKenzie will play Sheriff Wade, a neighbouring sheriff called in to assist Mickey during the Season 2 premiere.
The episode, titled “Cyclone,” will introduce Wade as Mickey finds herself dealing with both a dangerous new threat to Edgewater and a shocking revelation involving her own family. While Wade arrives to lend a hand, CBS teases that the visiting sheriff has “a few secrets of his own,” potentially setting up some complications for Mickey beyond the immediate crisis.
McKenzie and Baccarin previously worked together on Gotham, where McKenzie starred as James Gordon and Baccarin played Dr. Leslie “Lee” Thompkins. The pair married in 2017. His Sheriff Country appearance now gives viewers another opportunity to see the real-life couple together on screen, this time with both of them wearing sheriff’s badges.

“Cyclone” — As Sheriff Mickey Fox struggles to process a shocking revelation about her family, she races to save a troubled young woman whose descent into a dangerous criminal operation uncovers a growing threat to all of Edgewater. Ben McKenzie guest stars as Sheriff Wade, a neighboring Sheriff who is called in to assist Sheriff Mickey, and has a few secrets of his own.
Baccarin also shared a first look at McKenzie’s appearance on Instagram, giving fans an early glimpse at Mickey and Wade together.
