Now That The Hunting Party Is Gone, It’s Time for Dory Shaw to Fix the Tracker Family Drama

Let me make it very clear that I hate that The Hunting Party was canceled, and I do hope that Netflix picks up the show.

That being said, the decision to cancel the Melissa Roxburgh-led drama opens the door for a Shaw sibling to return in Tracker.

Out of everyone, maybe there’s a chance that Dory could fix the Shaw family drama, especially now that Russell has information about Colter that he has no idea about.

Dory’s Role Could Have Been Much Bigger

Roxburg was cast as Dory, Colter’s sister, during Tracker Season 1.

However, shortly after that, she landed the lead role in the NBC crime drama, which meant schedules needed to be worked out. After all, she couldn’t be on two sets at the same time.

Sure, Dory made one appearance toward the end of Tracker Season 2, but it was small compared to the way Russell has been on the series, and that was due to Roxburgh’s schedule.

It helped that The Hunting Party Season 1 was filmed in Vancouver, where Tracker filmed at the time. Once the crime series moved production to New York, it was almost impossible to make the schedules work.

That would have been much harder had The Hunting Party Season 3 been confirmed, with production on Tracker Season 4 moving to California.

Now that The Hunting Party has been canceled, it opens the door for Roxburg to appear more on the CBS series.

In fact, it opens the door for all three Shaw siblings to be on the screen at the same time, as it will be easier to work around Jensen Ackles’ filming schedule, as well.

It’s time we got to know more about Dory, as she clearly knew more than both of her brothers for the longest time, holding on to a box of documents that Jennifer Morrison’s Lizzy had passed on after her mom’s death.

Dory kept urging her brother Colter to give up on answers about their father’s death, hinting that she knew it would turn up more questions than answers.

After all, the journals in the box of documents led Colter to the Chrono Stasis Institute and an Alaskan facility, both of which connected back to Ashton’s life before he took his family off the grid.

While Dory tries to avoid her family drama, it’s clear that she knows more, but the series didn’t have time to explore it all.

There were elements of her parents’ past that she wanted to protect her brothers from, especially Colter.

There Are Multiple Ways Dory Could Be Brought Back Into the Story

Right now, the Shaw brothers are divided again on Tracker, as Russell has learned that Ashton tested Colter when he was younger.

He’s taken that information and run off with it, and it’s sure to create messy drama when the full truth comes out.

It creates multiple ways to bring Dory back into the story, without it feeling forced.

It’s possible that she always knew about this secret. She could have done her own research and, upon learning the truth, decided to bury it deep.

She is an academic, and it makes sense that she would explore the pathways open to her and compartmentalize her emotions from the facts.

At the same time, Russell could decide to go to her with the information he learned at the end of Tracker Season 3, since he needs someone with a more academic mindset than he has to understand everything.

Even though she says that she wants to keep the past in the past, there are going to be parts of her that want the answers now that more of them are coming out.

Plus, as Dory learns that her father took them all off the grid for legitimate reasons, she could find herself engrossed in the truth in the way her two brothers have become.

Then, as Colter learns that Russell is hiding something from him, Dory could even be the one to find a middle ground — the one who helps prevent arguments and helps understand the entire story.

Tracker Season 4 is wide open to bring the Shaw siblings in one spot to figure out what really happened all those years ago.
