Considering Channel 4 hasn’t announced a premiere date, it would seem Season 17 of Great British Bake Off is still in the oven. (Perhaps it hasn’t passed the toothpick test?) But that’s quite all right, because fans have plenty of related TV programs on which to nosh if they’ve already gobbled up all the GBBO seasons to date.
After scoping out other versions and considering the opinion of internet judges, here’s how we’d rank nine GBBO spinoffs. And yes, we’d give the No. 1. pick the coveted TV Insider handshake.
Before we get to it, an honorable mention must be made for The Great British Bake Off Musical. Yes, a spinoff musical opened in the U.K. in 2022, though the production divided critics. (A Sunday Times review said the production had “no soggy bottoms”; one in the Guardian begged to differ.) But with numbers like “Somewhere in the Dough,” “Bring on the Scone,” and “The Handshake Song,” it can’t be bad, right?
