In the world of politics, people can still have respect for others on the opposite side of the political spectrum. Often, figures find themselves having or acting like unexpected allies of sorts, even if they don’t quite agree on certain issues. Recently, Fox News’ Jesse Watters expressed some praise for one Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate. However, there was one caveat to the share.
Jesse Watters Recently Responded To A Discussion Of His Show On Morning Joe Concerning A Certain Interview
Watters is a political commentator who is known for his work with Fox News. He originally became known to many with his “Watters’ World” segment on The O’Reilly Factor.
In 2022, Watters became the host of his own namesake program, Jesse Watters Primetime. In addition, he is known for serving as a co-host on The Five.
During a recent episode of his Primetime series, Watters featured Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, a politician and Democratic nominee in the 2026 United States Senate election in Michigan, as a guest. At one point, Watters asked El-Sayed about his campaign promises, including Medicare for All.
In one memorable exchange, Watters asked El-Sayed on his views concerning gender-affirming surgery for minor. This caused El-Sayed to ask, with his tongue firmly in cheek, if he was circumcised.
The interview later recieved praise from Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski, saying it featured a “healthy” debate. Brzezinski shared, “There was some great sparring there that I thought was healthy, and needed more for Democrats to step up, go on Fox News, for Fox News to have Democrats on. And by the way, for different points of view to show up on all of the networks that people watch. So, I thought this was really, actually constructive.”
While Watters Admitting To Liking The Nominee, He Shared Mixed Views On Their Political Aspirations
Weighin in on their differing views, Brzezinski expressed, “It was a little hard to watch at times. But at the same time, I commend him for going on, and I commend Jesse Watters for having him. And I hope there’s more of it.”
Brzezinski’s comments were later featured on Watters’ Primetime show. Taking note of the comments, Watters expressed, “I actually like Abdul. I probably shouldn’t like him, but I do.”
That said, Watters admitted that this didn’t quite mean support for El-Sayed’s political ambitions. He continued, “I think he’d be a terrible senator, and he’s a little bit of a lunatic.”
Despite this, Watters also admitted that he liked El-Sayed compared to his competition. He shared, “At least he’s not your typical stiff. Hakeem [Jeffries] talked to [Jared] Kushner because he wanted to help the country. Abdul talked to me because he wanted to help Michigan and himself.” Ending things on a lighter note, however, he quipped, “And we all learned something… that I’m circumcised.”
